How to play Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD on your PC in English.

After searching around the forums for the PPSSPP PSP emulator, I found out that it is possible to play Monster Hunter Portable 3rd on PC using the Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD (for PS3) iso. Here's how:

(Sorry for the long instructions!)

  • Obtain the ISO (use the PS3 disc and a BluRay drive to rip it or use a PS3 with custom firmware) and extract its contents into any folder.

  • Download and extract the PSP PKG HD Remaster Decrypter v0.2 from here (Link for the newest version is at the bottom of the page).

  • Run PSPHDRemasterDecrypter.exe. For the PKG field, click Open and navigate to the extracted ISO contents and select PS3_EXTRAD000DATA000.PKG. Choose wherever you'd like for the Working Folder. Click Decrypt. This will extract the EBOOT.PBP which is essentially the PSP iso.

  • Download PSP2PS3 from here (Out of the versions available, I used PSP2PS3_v2.1.2_CEX.7z) and extract it. Then, move the EBOOT.PBP to (PSP2PS3 Extract location)PSP2PS3tools. Open up command prompt (in Run, its cmd.exe) and type 'cd (PSP2PS3 Extract location)tools' without the quotations and hit enter. Type in 'mongoose -' without the quotations and hit enter one more time. This will create an ISO.

  • Now to patch the ISO into English. Download the English patch for PS3 here and Patcher 1.6.3 here. Do not extract the patch, but extract the patcher.

  • Place the new ISO, MHP3RD_English_Patch_TMO_PS3_5.0.0.zip, and MHP3RD_patcher_v1.6.3.exe in the same folder. Run MHP3RD_patcher_v1.6.3.exe and select the ISO as the file. Check 'Touch/Patched ISO' and click 'Patch'. Now your ISO is in English!

  • On to the last step. Download the latest nightly version of PPSSPP PSP Emulator for PC here and extract it. Run PPSSPPWindows.exe or PPSSPPWindows64.exe. Before you load up the ISO, go to Settings>Audio>Download Atrac3+ plugin>Download and install. This plugin helps with the games sound effects. I would also recommend turning the Sound Effects up to 6 and the BGM down to around 2.

  • Go back to the main menu of the emulator, click 'Load..' and select the patch .iso and the game will launch! I recommend playing with the video settings to up the looks and balance performance. Make sure to raise the render resolution!

Keep in mind, the videos will not play. If you are sitting at a black screen, just press select and it will skip to the game. Have fun!
